A pottery pitcher of a different sort. This pouring vessel is a modern take on a pottery ewer from 1000 BC china, western Zhou. I fell in love with the original and wanted to make it for the wood kiln and gas kiln. The ewer is glazed in a shino glaze, which is basically a salmon/white glaze. In shino glazes, the firing process serendipitously creates the tiny dots and grey variation you may see on the glaze surface. I use one of these ewers for ice tea and hot tea, water and wine.
9" tall to the top of the handle, 6" diameter at the wideness of the belly.
Approx. 40oz, or 5 cups. Dishwasher safe.
